PP weighs in on Palin choice

"Having a woman on the ticket doesn't mean you have women's interests at heart," said Erika Fricke, vice president of public affairs for the Planned Parenthood Western Pennsylvania Action Fund. Planned Parenthood and members of several unions showed up yesterday to protest the candidates' appearance.

Fricke pointed to Palin's conservative positions on such issues as education, which have made her a darling of some on the right.

"He's really pointing out to America just how extreme he is with this choice," Fricke said. "We need to make sure that people understand that John McCain is no friend of women."
